Working on behalf of our clients, DC Legislative & Regulatory Services has:

  • Secured millions of dollars in federal appropriations for our clients;
  • Obtained federal appropriations funding for research and demonstration projects involving new technology development;
  • Advocated effectively for additional funding for biotechnology research;
  • Lobbied successfully for a change in the law that allowed small businesses to continue to hire guest workers under the H-2B visa program after the Congressionally mandate cap had been reached;
  • Helped protect a client’s interests during the creation of a new pension law;
  • Crafted language to ensure fairness to small credit reporting agencies in identity theft legislation;
  • Worked with allies to ensure that the regulatory scheme created in chemical site security legislation does not place undue burdens on chemical manufacturers;
  • Incorporated language favorable to small business in asbestos liability reform legislation;
  • Defeated anti-pesticide and biotechnology amendments offered to legislation on the House and Senate floors;
  • Hosted fundraising events to raise money for business-oriented members of Congress;
  • Removed onerous anti-pesticide language from federal legislation;
  • Included language to promote the use of a client's technology in the Farm Bill;
  • Identified prospective business opportunities for irrigation in China, Iraq and South Africa.
  • Participated in a coalition working with EPA to establish reasonable user fees;
  • Guided clients through the EPA pesticide registration and USDA biotechnology deregulation processes;
  • Worked with an industry partnership to help mobilize Congress to pressure EPA to implement the Food Quality Protection Act according to sound scientific principles;
  • Helped clients plan for pesticide product cancellations and assisted them in identifying suitable alternatives;
  • Monitored state implementation of federal air and water quality mandates;
  • Assisted with state product registration issues;
  • Developed a program to mobilize local grassroots opposition to county and local community restrictions on fertilizer and pesticide use;
  • Galvanized local contacts, equipped them to speak out on issues of relevance and prepared valuable supportive materials.
