Agriculture

The agriculture industry is one of the most diverse business areas in the economy, as well as one of the most severely regulated, both domestically and internationally.  Increasing anxieties about fertilizer, pesticide and water use have amplified calls for increased government regulation.  DCLRS has worked extensively on agricultural policy.  We have worked to help reform crop insurance, to ensure that farmers have access to the technologies they need to farm efficiently and effectively, and encourage the development and continuation of federal programs that incentivize conservation in agriculture.  DCLRS successfully advocated for various provisions of past Farm Bills.  We will be actively engaged as future Farm Bills are written so that our clients’ priorities are heard on Capitol Hill.

“Working with DCLRS has definitely been an asset to our association.  The staff at DCLRS quickly educated themselves on our issues and represent us in a myriad of ways in Washington, DC, all the while working to improve the federal policies that impact Illinois family farmers.”

Illinois Corn Growers Association

DCLRS represents numerous domestic agricultural companies and major farming cooperatives, as well as biotechnology companies.  Our team is prepared to deal with the various agencies that regulate this industry, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  We are also well equipped to address international trade and market access issues through our work with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and the Department of State.
