Internships
DC Legislative & Regulatory Services maintains an ongoing internship program to provide undergraduate and graduate students with government relations work experience. Interns gain valuable insights into the legislative and regulatory processes and the opportunity to make contacts on Capitol Hill and within several federal agencies. We offer flexible hours, a modest stipend and course credit.
Intern responsibilities include the following:
- Monitor current legislation and regulation that may impact our clients;
- Research, summarize and edit relevant newspaper and journal articles for use in client reports and association newsletter;
- Attend Congressional hearings;
- Perform independent research projects.
Requirements:
- Microsoft Office proficiency;
- Strong writing and editing skills;
- Effective research skills
- Professional demeanor;
- Ability to work independently;
- Enthusiastic attitude.
Interns have an opportunity to learn and grow at DCLRS. We have helped every willing intern with their careers whether they stay in Washington, DC or go elsewhere. In our 20 years, we have had diverse students from every region of the country. Our interns get to attend hearings, business and advocacy meetings, fundraisers and other social and political functions. They get real "hands on" experience in the process and are taught to write in a manner that will help them show future employers their skills.
